Pez Hacking

20 years ago, this guy I knew made this girl I knew an action figure of herself for her birthday. No idea what materials he used but he did a rack card and blister that looked super legit.

Since I have some extra time during quarantine I decided put together some toys of my own.

At the local Goodwill I picked up several PEZ dispensers and got to work.

This Rapunzel figure, with some hot glue and paint, turned into…
Malala Yousafza.
A little photoshop and glue later and I put together this finished package.
Snow White became…

It started out as the older Ming we all know and love but I had some trouble trimming her hair down enough without tearing it apart so I turned left on it.

And it turned into a young and dashing Ming the Merciless.

Since there is no such thing as a young Ming, I decided I had to build some fake ephemera to go with him to lend him an air of legitimacy.

Exhibit 1. A page from TV Guide with Charlie Sheen as Young Ming.
Exhibit 2. Fake Mork and Mindy card with Charlie Sheen as young Ming. Side note: that’s the text from the original card.
Here’s a video of me boxing it all up to send to a friend.

I took a trip down the toy aisle and found boxes of PEZ dispensers in the shape of big rigs with branding from the store.

I grabbed a couple and worked on a big rig collection.

The Rook from Knight Rider, BJ McKay’s Rig, and the truck that went head on with Toecutter.
And of course, Snowman’s rig from Smokey and the Bandit.

I had planned to do a series of ten but in most movies and TV shows, rigs like this are pretty nondescript and usually end up just getting run through by things.
